Biography N.A.I.R.A is more than a fresh new face. Naira is a new sound to the industry, a new form of soul, "Urban- Soul". She brings it all to you! Her style displays her lyrical skills as a rapper and melodic soulfulness as a singer. This new urban sensation is making a huge buzz on an international scale. Did I mention she's Nigerian? ......NIGERIAN u say?... Though Naira is the currency of her native country Nigeria, she took it a step further and classified each letter as an acronym stating that she is a.... Nigerian America I'm Representin Africa. NICE RIGHT? Well one should hear her music. "Listening to my music is like picking from a bag of jelly beans, because I have so many different flavors you're bound to feel at least one of them." This artist is no stranger to the studio or the stage. Naira is true lyricism, charisma, and ENERGY, an experience like non other. Not to mention spontaneity along with a vocal element of surprise that has garnered her airplay worldwide including Accra, Ghana and United Kingdom to name a few. She has performed in not only Atlanta, but also Los Angeles, CA, Miami, FL, Houston, TX, and soon to hit the tour scene globally. She's graced the stage with 2Face Idibia, El Dee of the Trybesmen, Amplifyd Crew, Rukus, Godwon, Jarvis, and countless others in venues such as ATL's prestigious The Fox Theatre for DEJAVUNETS NIGERIAN REUNION, The annual Sweet Auburn Festival, BlackArts Fest, Miss Nigeria, Miss Africa, and various headlining events.
Why this name? Naira is Nigerian currency and for me it was a way I could represent my african descent. Naira now means N.igerian A.merican I.m R.epresentin A.frica Oh yeah cant forget the ATL! Theyre interchangable Do you play live? Yes, I play every opportunity I get. Mostly at festival, clubs, and special events. How, do you think, does the internet (or mp3) change the music industry? The internet has given grassroots artists such as myself an opportunity to maximize their listening audience. Its a great innovation in my opinion. Would you sign a record contract with a major label? Yes of course! Band History: Cleopatra Yejide Adedeji, better known to the music industry as NAIRA, is the new up and coming Urban soul sensation . The songstress/rapper's style is described as neosoul meets hiphop at its finest! On each track NAIRA (Nigerian currency) gives you true lyricism, charisma, and energy. Not to mention an element of exciting spontaneity along with the vocal element of surprise. Some call it refreshing, others call it exciting. "Listening to my music is like picking from a bag of jelly beans because I have so many different flavors. You're bound to feel at least one of them!" Current projects: Highly anticipated debut album "Life, Love, and Liberation", "Da M.V.M.T","The Rhapsody" (mini EP), "Underground Sweep" (host/main feature) and other underground (soon to surface) mixcd's. This songwriter/screenplay writer often proclaims, "I'm Naira, Nigerian-American I'm Representing Africa/Atlanta. Beware of my prowess. I'm taking the world by storm one stereo at a time." Your influences? I am the essence of hiphop, r&b, and neosoul. All together I'm as Urban as the city lites.Imagine a soul singer on a hiphop beat. Plus I rap. Picture audibly, a range of moving high's and low's of emotion and energy. Yet there is... Only one Naira Favorite spot? Underground Atlanta Anything else...?
