Buchi Nwatarali has always had a passion for Music. In 2004 Buchi decided to go the extra mile and invest all his life savings into creating a mixtape. The Producer who was in charge of the mixtape was heavyweight southeast producer, Dekumzy. On December of 2005, Buchi , hoping to make it to the international arena, presented his mixtape to childhood friend Obinna Ofor, who had just recently announced plans to start a music publishing company in the Unites States. Ofor found a lot of errors in the mixtape, and asked Buchi to have it redone. Buchi decided to collaborate with close friend, and former miss Anambra, Somto Akunyeli-- both formed the (original) group Bijoux. Bijoux signed with Dekumzy’s shadows records, and set a release date for their début album for the summer of 2006. Bijoux sent a copy of their album to Obinna Ofor, who by now was living in Atlanta Georgia. Ofor fell in love with the duo’s sound, but worried that the album was not unique enough to create attention. With the permission of Bijoux, Ofor decided to buy the group from shadows records, and add them to his newly formed record label/ music publishing company, Coal City. Bijoux and Ofor decided that the best way for the album to create a buzz in the clustered Nigerian Music industry was to come up with something very unique, and yet --mainstream. They decided to target a more mature audience. In the summer of 2006, Miri Maba Mo was released to the internet, and it immediately topped various African Music charts. In December of that year, Coal City records and Shadows records signed a partnership agreement. The agreement lead to the addition of Dekumzy to the group. On August 2007, after three years in the making, Bijoux’s will release their Highly anticipated debut album ,Love Stories-- and the world will see why Bijoux will define this generation.
