Leading UK Church singer Muyiwa is set to release his third album “Declaring His Love”, due out mid-March. Already an extremely popular personality on the UK Church scene, Muyiwa with his singing ensemble Riversongz prepare for what undoubtedly will be one of this year’s key live music releases.
The entire project was recorded live (October 2007) at London Hackney’s Ocean venue in front of a full capacity crowd backed by an all-star band which included: MD Andrew Smith (West Life/Lauryn Hill), Keyboard Steve Turner (Kylie Minogue), Guitar Femi Temowo (Soweto Kinch/George Benson) and Drums Julien Brown (Shayne Ward/Shaggy/Jamelia).
“Hey Ya” is the first single to be released from the album which is an unusual mix of Gospel combined with a chorus of the same name deriving from a Native American Indian chant.
“Hey Ya speaks of the many colours there are in sacred music. Its energy is great, the vibe is great and I hope this would show how God can be expressed in such diverse ways,” says Muyiwa.
Diversity is what has fuelled Muyiwa’s continued notoriety with each of his albums reflecting the varied influences from Contemporary Praise & Worship to Gospel and the infections rhythms from his West African homeland of Nigeria. His touring schedule sees Muyiwa & Riversongz travel internationally and notching up, along the way, combined sales in excess of 80,000 units which is impressive considering there is no major label involved.
The new album is a guaranteed hit record as anticipation begins to build not only for the pending release in March, but also for a forthcoming 8-city tour across the UK and an accompanying DVD being made available shortly after.
