Young Entertainers and Music Awards (YEM Awards) comes to town

YoungEntertainers and Music Awards, an award which is set out to celebrate theupcoming musicians and young entertainers in the Nigerian entertainmentindustry comes to town. PayBack Inc media, the organizers of the award at apress conference in Lagos revealed the award categories, judges and ambassadorsfor the awards.

 

Theaward which has a total of 32 categories is divided into two main groups; the generalcategory, which is for the entertainers while the second, upcoming category, isfor the upcoming musicians.

Amongthe ambassadors for the award is ace music producer, k-solo, radio presenterKore Brown, broadcaster and musician Zdon Paporella, and Africa’s finest D.j,D.j jimmy Jatt (who could not make the media briefing due to other pressingmatters). The judges for the awards include Fola Folayan a presenter withNaijaInfo, D.j Charles colee and D.j switch.

“The idea of young entertainersand music awards came when I noticed the number of upcoming artistes in theNigerian music industry who although, have not yet break into the market, butare doing pretty good. Then I asked myself, what if these artiste and youngentertainers are encouraged, celebrated, will it not help further their musicaland entertainment career? So I came up with Young Entertainers and MusicAwards.

YEM AWARDS is focused on youths that have been impressive in theNigerian entertainment industry. The Young Entertainers and Music award is setout to celebrate, promote and encourage the upcoming musicians and entertainersin the ever growing Nigerian entertainment industry. The awards also aim atcreating an avenue where the upcoming and the established artistes/entertainerscan come together.

This is our own quota we intend to contribute to the career of theupcoming artistes and entertainers as well as the Nigerian entertainmentindustry at large and we hope Nigerians will accept our idea and join us to notonly to appreciate, encourage and celebrate the young entertainers and upcomingartiste. We also believe that since the future of Nigeria is in the hands ofthe youth, it is therefore important to start recognizing the Nigerian youthswho are doing it big in the music and entertainment industry”  those are the words of  Olakunle Oseni, founder of PayBack Inc media.

5.         BEST MUSIC VIDEO (AWARD GOES TO THEDIRECTOR)

Best conceptualized, best edited,best picture, best directed and most exciting video in the year under review.This award goes to director of a music video for an upcoming artiste. Thiscategory will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

6.         BEST R ‘N’ B SINGLE (Male)

Best R&B single by upcomingmale artiste in the year under review (by single individual or group). Thiscategory will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

7.         BEST R ‘N’ B SINGLE (Female)

Best R&B single by upcomingfemale artiste in the year under review (by single individual or group). Thiscategory will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

8.         BEST POP SINGLE (Male / Female)

Best Rap single by upcoming maleartiste released on-air. This category will be decided 70% vote of listenersand 30% by the Jury.

Best Rap single by upcomingfemale artiste released on-air. This category will be decided 70% vote oflisteners and 30% by the Jury.

11.       BEST COLLABO (Male / Female)

Best R&B, Pop or hip hopcollaborative track by upcoming artiste (features known acts or new acts). Thiscategory will be decided 70% vote of listeners and 30% by the Jury.

12.       BEST COMEDIAN OF THE YEAR (Male / Female)
